The Excelsior College School of Nursing is built upon a platform of excellence as indicated by its repeated designation of the School as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing (NLN). The College’s nursing degree programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN) formerly known as the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC). With programs extending from the associate degree in nursing for entry to the profession, through baccalaureate and master’s degrees, more than 20,000 Excelsior students are currently enrolled in Excelsior toward career advancement in this field.
As a distance institution with a unique model for nursing education, particularly at the associate degree level, surveys of Excelsior graduates and their supervisors indicate that they are viewed as well prepared and high functioning. In fact, their scores on the national licensing examination are almost uniformly at or above the national average. Even so, Excelsior imposes a higher standard on itself through the Robert E. Kinsinger Institute for Nursing Excellence. With an agenda of continuous improvement and a goal of assuring that all nursing graduates perform at the highest levels, the Kinsinger Institute will support Excelsior in meeting these objectives.
